First edition 1862, 3rd in 1886 and 4th in 1897.
Alpha by surname; usually gives geographical location of the particular family as well as the author, publisher, etc. (The challenge is, of course, to the locate given published works.)
EXAMPLE: "Some descendants of William ADAMS of Ipswich, Mass. By William S. Appleton. Boston: David Clapp & Son, 1881. 8vo, 8 pages, with hektograph (sic)."
NOTE: This book has transferred better than many from print to the electronic format, meaning that page numbers and years attach to the title of the entry as they should.
